Hallam Shodokan Aikido

Welcome to the Sheffield Hallam Shodokan Aikido Club!

We are students of Sheffield Hallam University who train under Former World Champion Scott Allbright at the Kyogikan dojo.

Shodokan Aikido It is a Japanese martial art that was developed by Tomiki Kenji Sensei, a senior student of Ueshiba Morihei, the founder of aikido. It is a structured martial arts system incorporating, physical education, sport and self defence. It uses throws, joint locks and breakfalls. The focus is on technique, not strength, and the techniques learnt in training can be applied in competition and in real life situations such as knife attacks, strangles and bear hugs.

Need a reason to train?
- self defence
- fitness
- self confidence
- challenge

- it's fun!

- wining medals in competitions
- make new friends

In Aikido we never initiate an attack. The desire to attack is proof that one lacks confidence to emerge victorious. That is, one has already been defeated in spirit!                                                                      Morihei Ueshiba
